Point of Attraction

I am a great fan of the Law of Attraction and The Secret. I have been studying the principles and focusing on it for about 6 years with great results....when I use it, and don't let my unconscious mental programming take over. I am reading a book called  E-Squared: Nine Do-It-Yourself Energy Experiments That Prove Your Thoughts Create Your Reality.  It is interesting...small experiments to see if the way you direct your thoughts impacts the outcome of your desires. My project is to have a small gift or blessing show up in my life - something completely unexpected. I am giving my Higher Power - Cosmo, as I like to refer to this Energy - 48 hours to complete this task. It has to show up here by Saturday morning at 9:08. 

I know this will happen, because it has happened before. I requested pain-free, quick-recovery surgery this summer, and that is exactly what I received. No pain post surgery, quick healing time, totally feeling like myself, with a positive outcome!  My doctor thinks I am a "tough lady", but I know it is so much more than that!

So my project is in full swing, and several small things have happened. A cardinal, my favorite bird, sat on my fencepost where I could see him from the window, and chirped for about 15 minutes before flying away. This is a blessing for sure! I received a link for a nice, healing meditation, which I enjoyed very much. I found an interesting online nutrition class at a reduced price...definitely a gift, but I still had to pay for it, so I don't think that counts.


I am pleased with Cosmo's offerings, but I know the main gift will be here soon! Update...as I walked to my car last night to head to the grocery store, something in my blue hydrangea bushes caught my eye. In among the fading light blue flowers was a magnificent, BRILLIANT blue hydrangea flower. I did not notice it there before. It is taller than the rest of the bush, and just glowed in the early evening light. This was unexpected, and magnificent. (The pictures do not do it justice...) Such a beautiful gift!

Day Sixty-Seven - Score!

The call came at noon. My principal and vice principal phoned me, using very formal language (the goofs), to officially offer me the job of Interim Special Education Program Head. I am amazed, scared, excited, terrified, and I said YES! I will work 3.5 days as the Program Head, and 1.5 days as the SLP. A contracted SLP will be hired for the year, so that I can "try it out" and see if the job is a good fit for me.

I am thrilled with this opportunity! Just need to figure out the nuts and bolts, and away I go!

Day Fifty-Five - Surprising!

Double Nickel Day! Have to expect something interesting on Day Fifty-Five, right? Weill, I got a phone call out of the blue from my principal. The job I interviewed for still has not been filled - no shock there since they changed the criteria for the position! Well, he had a proposition for me...which depends on the stars lining up, bigwigs agreeing with his proposal, and a blue moon appearing - but wait - there IS a blue moon at the end of this month!

Anyway, he is interested in hiring me for the job (3.5 days) while I continue in my current job 1.5 days. He would hire an SLP on an interim basis so that I could try the position for a year and see if it is a good fit for me. This sounds excellent, and exactly what I wanted!

We shall see what this Blue Moon brings me!

Day ThIrty-Five - Smile

Well, it is hard to believe, but here I am at the half-way point of my summer sojourn.  I have worked a lot, but it is different from school-year school - much more relaxed (although much more humid and steamy). I have been to the Cape for a week. Sunday, we leave for our trip to Florida. I am really looking forward to getting away with DB. We haven't gone on a vacation of any distance in three years. I am going to relax, walk, swim, and chill.

What are my goals for the final four weeks after vacation? Wrap up my week of summer school. PURGE my large collection of clothes and shoes. Paint my dressing room and get some shelving installed. Maintain my dedication to my grain/gluten/wheat-free lifestyle. Ramp up my dedication to strengthening my legs and feet through my physical therapy program (Can't be a runner with weak ankles). Rejoice in the fact that I am returning to my SLP position! Sleep, friends, meditation, gratefulness....

Day Thirty - Sticky

I had a lovely opportunity presented to me today...a young man knocked on the door and said he would give me a great price on sealing my driveway. My driveway is a big mess - I always run the lawnmower over it to get rid of the grass growing through the cracks. I was intrigued, but told him I had to do a little research before I would agree. He said he would be around, and to call if I was interested. Well, his website was impressive, his video looked good, and he was on Angie's List. I decided to go ahead with it.

Josh and Company arrived, and got busy. They dug up all the grass, sealed the cracks with rubber, and gave the driveway a nice spray. It looks good. Josh says it will last for four years. If he is right, I will certainly call him again.

Day Two - Saturday

I may be on vacation from school, but there is still telepractice work to be done! All those end of the year reports are not going to write themselves! A couple of hours did the trick - reports are done and filed.

Eventually, Dearly Beloved and I made our way up the coast of Maine to have dinner with Dear Stepson and his lovely wife. We drove through an intense thunderstorm, but ended up seeing the most beautiful rainbow that appeared over the ocean. Life is good!

Day Forty-five - Riches

Went to a wedding shower for my wonderful stepson and his adorable fiance. Showers are not my favorite things - too much oohing and aahing for me. I am not a party-girl, and small talk does not come easily, but I put my best effort out there! The most stressful part of the whole situation for me was being with The Ex-Wife. Hmmm...narcissistic, opinionated, always-the-victim - her less than satisfactory life is of her own making, but she makes those around her pay for it. She was unhappy that the event was not catered. She thought it was tacky that they would open the gifts at the shower (What?!). She berated her future DiL about an invitation that was not received by a relative, but that she RSVP'd about anyway.... blahblahblah...

DB dropped me off, and told me he would pick me up the second I called - I love him! I did not know a soul there except for the Ex and the bride, who was not there when I arrived. I found a seat, and started to chat with another woman who was there alone, and did not know anyone. We hit it off. I saw the Ex a few tables over; she ignored me. I made sure to say hello. LONG afternoon short - the bride arrived and had a lovely time. The groom arrived in time to help open gifts (and probably to be embarrassed by his mother). The Ex left right after the final gift was opened. She tried to ignore me again, but I was having none of that! I brightly bid her farewell, and told her I looked forward to seeing her at the wedding!

I went home with my Dearly Beloved, so blessed in knowing that I create my own life and my own reality. I also create my own happiness - no one else is responsible for that. I am sad for those that don't get to figure that out in this lifetime; they miss out on so much richness!

Day Thirty-seven - Resourcefulness

No car + Sentence Combining class = asking friends for help! My friend Sarah, who is leading the class picked me up at 7:15, and off we went! It was a smaller group today; Sarah had a few activities prepared for us (deconstructing/reconstructing sentences from famous authors), then there was plenty of time to continue work on our projects. Eight chapters done, twenty-three more to go, one month to complete it, and To Kill a Mockingbird will be finished! Grabbed a ride home with another friend, and settled in to complete laundry, get organized, and goof off!

Called the friend who is working on my car at 5:15... the fan motor responsible for cooling the engine is broken. Another fan has been ordered, but will not arrive until Monday. More opportunities to do things at home! DB picked me up for dinner; salad and pizza at our favorite restaurant. We will take off for the beach for an overnight escape tomorrow. This time, we have a hotel reservation!

Day Thirty-six - Relish

Having a student realize why calling his teacher an idiot is a social disaster...Rewarding!
Eating a wonderful lunch with colleagues after summer school....Delightful!
Having the radiator hose blow up in your car in front of the personal trainer's studio...Synchronistic!
Being approved to adopt a Golden Retriever from a rescue group...Priceless!

...It was a very good day!

Day Twenty- Five - Rhythmic

The days have a rhythmic pattern to them, particularly at the beach. I have gone to this beach every summer since I have been a small child. It looks exactly the same now as it did then - the same sweeping curve of sand, the same Tequila Sunrise sunsets, the same undulating waves inching up the shore. It is one of my favorite places in the world. It has hidden me, shielded me and celebrated me. I have had some of my most joyous times here, engaged in bad behavior here, and soothed my stressed and wounded soul here.

Today I was just so happy to be here again.

Day Twenty-two - Reminisce

DB and I decided to have the SILs over for dinner, before the ladies traveled back to Nevada on Saturday. The three of them have been working feverishly at Mother's house trying to tame, organize, and donate her vast quantity of books, dolls, craft supplies and clothing. They have made remarkable progress, and are totally exhausted. I am more emotionally exhausted. With more evidence of synchronicity everywhere around me, my two final students of the day at summer school cancelled. When I returned home, basking in the extra 90 minutes, my personal trainer messaged me to say that she had double-booked my make-up session, and would have to reschedule! Glorious! Lots of extra time not only to get ready for dinner, but to relax for a bit. The weather was perfect today; it was the kind of day that you long for all winter, and most of the summer in New England - 70s, low humidity, blue skies, nice breeze.

We had a really nice time tonight.  DB cooked the steaks and corn I had bought. The SILs each had a nice glass of wine, which relaxed them. We finished up with wonderful strawberry shortcake. We had many laughs remembering Mother and her jokester ways. Another wonderful day!
